2012 Birthday Reflection...

Are birthdays over rated? I have madly indulged in planning and executing birthday parties appropriately themed. Coordinated goodie bags, dress codes, activities and meal extravaganzas. I've looked forward to mile stone aged celebrations and even had a printed itinerary when the fiesta fell on the weekend. However is there a need to pursue each and every double digit year as if it was your last? Certainly its a matter of preference what you feel is an over rated celebration. Perhaps look upon it as if IT IS your last and simply do what ever you find special. Best wishes, safe journeys and enjoy. Happy Birthday!

You were a heavenly baby; you never cried and dazzled a smile all the time.

As a toddler you told everyone you wanted to be a pediatric cardiologist.

As a child you were fearless, the smallest, but the loudest.

As time went on you developed a strong awareness for independence, strength and a determination to make a difference.

Each time we snuggle together, talk or laugh; I appreciate you in my life. You’re my baby girl and best friend. 

Now you’re filling out college applications and deciding what to do with your future; I trust you will make society a better place with whatever you choose to do.

Many Times Over...

When my journal entries keep repeating; this is my flag to myself I need to address my thoughts.

Growing up we are taught ‘The rule of reciprocity’, we must not take without giving back in return. How does our society lose this staple?

Within the past year I’ve begun to completely understand the philosophies of Napoleon Hill. His idea of doing more than paid for and the law of increasing returns; basically don’t think about what you are not receiving when you handle a task. Handle your task because you will be amazed to receive an abundance amount many times over.

Philanthropists are viewed and commonly misjudged; think of it this way. There is always someone in a far worst situation as you. Don’t think twice about not helping; having a positive mental attitude will increase and recognize prosperity in your life many times over.

What makes you happy?
When you peel away all the layers of commercial skin, when you eliminate every ounce of materialistic articles, what makes you happy?
Our society thrives on having the best of everything in order for happiness. If you were giving an opportunity to change or discard of something in your life; what would you choose? Cellular phone, car, video games, cable television…
It’s not surprising how we think this might be devastating however this is not us; happiness has nothing to do with commodities.
To me happiness is love, respect and gratitude and a feeling you create within your consciousness.

New Year's Resolutions...

Throw out that New Year Resolution List!!!
Another year! I am a strong believer of reflections; although I am, I find it damaging to reflect on New Year resolutions… For many years I would make a goal board and write down 10 resolutions; often not completing 8 of them… I believe we set ourselves up for failure. We focus so much energy on what is (wrong, what is dysfunctional, what is negative) and ultimately fail because your goals are unrealistic…
I am suggesting we try something new this year… Try a different approach; I am adapting the “Any Positive Change” attitude… This is the philosophy of The Chicago Recovery Alliance, a harm reduction outreach organization. We are able to administer Any Positive Change in whatever we choose to change; I believe the key is small increments of change… Keeping your goal with a reachable and realistic destination; while continuing to add on small goal objectives always with a realistic agenda…
Another thought would be just adding on a positive task to your life… Taking on a volunteer day in which you feel you are helping someone less fortunate; again this does not have to be an over whelming task. Volunteer for an hour a week increasing when you can handle more responsibilities…
The key is small increments for balance, and reachable and realistic goals for a happy and healthy New Year…

It’s January 1st, I’m going to change my life!!!
It’s February 1st, I’m starting again TOMORROW…
It’s March 1st; well this weather has been really awful to do anything!!!
It’s April 1st, I’m starting again in June…
It’s July 1st, it’s TOO damn hot…
It’s August 1st, As soon as these kids are back in school I can be motivated again…
It’s November 1st, I cannot wait until these holidays are over
So I am able to start my New Year Resolutions, I have a great list!!!
